Summer Reading

There's nothing like a book so good that you just can't put it down. Photo by Paul Bence

If you are looking for a great book to read you should check out Tales of Whimsy where you will find a short and sweet glimpse of what the featured book is about. And reading the comments helps you decide if it's a book that you might enjoy.

What are you reading this summer? I'm just about to start "Voyager"... the 3rd book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

Summer Safety! Children, Pets
and Garden Hoses

Photo by D Sharon Pruitt / Pink Sherbert Photography

My summer safety tip:
The standing water in a garden hose left in the sun can heat up and be hot enough to burn children and pets. Before spraying water from a garden hose left in the hot sun make sure the water is running cool.

The longest day of the year!

Happy Summer Solstice! Tomorrow will be the longest day of the year. I hope you will be outside enjoying every, single, last, drop of light. I love these long summer days and nights.

Photos from my Grand Canyon rafting trip

I'm excited to show you a few photos from my recent rafting trip on the Colorado River thru the Grand Canyon. I want to go back! It still seems like a dream. The National Park Service has changed the permitting system to a lottery instead of a waiting list. So maybe we will get lucky and not have to wait another 16 years to go again!

There were a total of 6 boats and 16 friends on our self-guided trip.

My son at the oars (and unseen friend in the front of his
boat) in Hermit Rapid. None of our boats flipped on this trip.

My husband rowing Hermit Rapid with Montana friends in the front.

From left to right, my son's gf, my daughter, a family friend/uncle and my
son cooking dinner for the group. First thing we do when we arrive at our
camp/beach for the night is to find a big flat area to set up our great kitchen.

Our Montana friends relaxing in the front of the boat between rapids.

Clear blue water found in Havasu Creek...one of the many side hikes on the trip.

My favorite photo of the whole trip...my son and daughter at Nankoweap Indian Granaries
